Martyrdom

“If you have not discovered something you are willing to die for, then you are not fit to live.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

School of Revival 303: Martyrdom

April 6 - May 11, 2023 online

This 6 week last SOR intensive of the 2022-2023 season on the theme of Martyrdom is not for the faint of heart. For those (whether this is your first time joining us or have been a part of the school) who feel ready to live 100% sold out for Jesus, this is for you.

We will be studying the lives of those who have been martyred for Christ so that we can be inspired and compelled to become living sacrifices. These compelling testimonies of people from the past and even present day who have been persecuted or martyred for their faith will be a sobering wake up call. They will be fuel to us to die to our own ways, become living sacrifices, and become wholly given to Christ. Jesus lived for the sole purpose of dying on the cross for our sins only to be resurrected in glory. Nearly all of the apostles who followed Christ were eventually martyred for their faith. We must position ourselves for the persecution to come so that in the end, we will remain standing.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Romans 12:1

When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.

While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep. –Acts 7:54-60

“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him…”
Philippians 1:29

“Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

Matthew 10:38-39
