The Apostolic Inheritance of California

California is a Land of Apostolic Inheritance

It is a land of Revival

A land of pioneers.

Where revivalists are born.

Where revivalists come and get birthed and launched into their destinies.

It is pregnant yet again with a fresh awakening.

The tsunami wave of revival is here upon us. The tide has receded only temporarily before another great wave and outpouring of His Spirit is upon us.

This training has been a dream in my heart for over a decade. As a native-born Californian, I believe with everything inside of me that the soil of California is apostolic in nature. Great moves of God are birthed here that go around the world and impact nations and generations.

Discovering the divine inheritance of California will astound you at the good plans God has for this state, one of the top ten financial centers in the world. From exporting the most carrots, almonds, and other produce to the nation, to the influence of Hollywood, to the tech capital at Silicon Valley, even in the natural people have tapped into the apostolic anointing in this land.

What would it look like if we reclaimed and tapped into the deep wells of revival here and the true inheritance?

What would happen if we honored God’s work in this land and asked for Him to do again, but in an even greater measure what He already began?

  • The Azusa Street Revival which birthed American Pentecostalism which has impacted more in our generation with encountering the Holy Spirit than ever before began in a little home in Los Angeles.

  • Aimee Semple McPherson left her hometown in Canada and when she came to California, her ministry was launched. She fed more people in the Great Depression in Los Angeles than the Red Cross and launched the Foursquare movement.

  • The Jesus People Movement with mass baptisms of hippies at Corona Del Mar was catalyzed by a hippie preacher named Lonnie Frisbee who allowed himself to be used by the Spirit in his day. He not only impacted the Jesus Movement, he was also catalytic for the Calvary Chapel and Vineyard Movements.

  • Heidi Baker, who has since gone on to transform the nation of Mozambique, was born in Orange County, went to Vanguard University (fruit from the Azusa Street Revival) where she met her husband Rolland, and through pioneering Iris Global, has touched most nations in the world.

So many other leaders, revivalists, and movements were birthed and launched in Southern California, let alone all that God has released from the whole state of California including the Bay Area, Redding, Silicon Valley, and more.

As you discover the apostolic inheritance of Southern California, it is my prayer that catalytic revival fire is ignited in you for your region to see God move in tidal waves of His glory and power.

May these testimonies of the rich inheritance of California, prophesy and unlock an even greater inheritance in our day! May you be inspired to discover the gold in your region and tap into wells of revival for such a time as this.

The Azusa Street Revival

Los Angeles, CA (1905-1906)

One of the greatest movements in history that contributed to the rapid spread of Christianity began when God crashed in on a handful of African Americans who met in a home with their only purpose to encounter more of God. Global Pentecostalism spread throughout the world was the fruit released from this little tribe who gathered together in a home on Bonnie Brae Street in Los Angles on April 9, 1906.

William J. Seymour, son of slaves, blind in one eye, humbly paved the way and was used by God to ignite a revival fire that has since spread around the globe introducing millions of people to Jesus and to the Holy Spirit in a powerful way.

The early days of the Azusa Street Revival were marked by unity, humility, and love regardless of ethnicity, race, or gender. These early Pentecostal pioneers paved the way for us in such a remarkable way. They wanted God in those days, they “did not have a thousand other things” they wanted before Him. And nothing was going to stop them from encountering more of Him. They were all in it together.

Now it’s our turn build on their breakthrough. What will happen in our day when love supersedes differences, when we recognize that every person is created in the image of God, and we run toward Jesus with total abandonment?

We have received such a powerful and rich heritage from these pentecostal pioneers. We are greatly indebted to them. I believe there are keys within the Azusa story that will prophesy into our future in how to navigate through our present storm and unlock a greater destiny. We must build on the momentum of William J. Seymour and those at Azusa Street, and others who have gone before us.
